Soul Healing Advanced Certificate

An advanced certificate for soul care providers, Soul Healing responds to the needs of spiritual directors, ministers, chaplains, pastoral care workers and social service workers to more effectively address the soul care issues that emerge following natural disasters, tragedy, or violence in the community. We have been training and supporting spiritual directors since 1986. Our commitment to those who live in poverty and on the margins has enabled us to develop an expertise in the spiritual aspects of a healing response to trauma.

In this advanced seminar, we consider soul healing in relation to individuals and to communities.

• What is the role of the spiritual director in response to trauma?

• How do we interface with the spirituality of a particular individual or communal setting?

• What is our relationship to therapeutic professionals?

• How do we embrace appropriate limits without limiting the capacity of the spirit?

• How do we care for ourselves as we experience the trauma of others?

Program Structure Program Expectations

Soul Healing is a 9-month program consisting of:

• Initial Intensive (5 days, 4 nights)

• Two webinars in the 3rd and 6th months

• Access to supervisory support

• Reading program

• Closing day with impact statement shared among all participants

Program Expectations

1. Applicants have completed a course of study in spiritual direction, chaplaincy, pastoral care, social work, teaching, nursing, or other caregiving profession.

2. Participants complete pre-reading prior to intensiveattend full intensivecomplete webinarstake advantage of supervisionsubmit an impact statement to be shared with program peers.
