Value of Volunteers

Volunteers are essential to the services of Restoring Connections. They serve on the Board and various program committees. They provide mentoring and soul care. They serve as instructors and facilitate grief groups, healing art groups and spiritual formation programs. They coordinate, lead and participate in advocacy work for systemic change in our mental health system and in criminal justice. They lift up, strengthen and restore health to the broader community. They carry out our mission to unite diverse people for spiritual transformation and social justice.

Restoring Connections Volunteer Hours for March 2022: 296

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month and this week we are celebrating our Board Members and Elder Wisdom Committee Members. Board Members keep us responsive to the needs of the community and faithful to our mission. Elder Wisdom Committee Members plan programs for people 55+ concerning their special calling to bring healing to the community, to serve as mentors for youth and to advocate for a more just world for future generations.

Chris Aragon has been a volunteer with Restoring Connections for over 20 years.  A retired firefighter, he has helped to facilitate programs, supported the re-entry efforts of justice involved women, served on the Board of Directors and presently serves on the Elder Wisdom Committee.  He is also invested in family and enjoys every opportunity with his grandchildren.  Chris models for all of us the value of lifelong learning, community healing and the virtue of humility.
